My dear friends, Chia Khai has spent 7.5 hours commuting today. Can we have /golfclap please? Lets get the story out shall we? We know that it takes 2.5 hours to get me from Haarener Gracht (that's where I stay) to the DLR (that's where I work). Because there was nothing to do at the DLR in the afternoon (yeah government work in all countries are the same... hehe), so I left early at 3.30 pm because my colleague David was kind enough to give me ride. Initially he wanted to give me a ride all the way through to the train station but I told him that I needed to change something in my visitor's pass at the DLR entrance (<-- this part is important). So I did my things and waited normally for my bus at 4.05 pm. So far so good. I reached the station at 4.15 pm and the train just pulled up. So far so good. We went towards the Cologne-Bonn airport and at Frankfurter(<-- yes) Street Station we stopped. Apparently the train ahead got into an accident (<-- refer to important part). We waited for 20 mins or so and reached the Cologne main train station via a detour.
Here is the next hurdle that came up, all trains to Aachen cannot arrive at the station. WTF x 10. Btw, I realised this after waiting an hour at the station and noticed the pattern. Best option is to go to a station on the way to Aachen and switch from there so I took my S-Bahn (Msian translation: Stupid Ban :D) to Ehrenfeld. Reached there and noticed my lovely Aachen train is waiting for me so it was a mad rush to the train door and guess what-- button not working. A lady kind enough to point out the other door that was working.
So finally I got to my dream train and left. We waited 10 mins at a station between Aachen and Ehrenfeld and conductor got bored. We were waiting then suddenly suspense music came on the train intercom (they use it for announcements). WTF x 10 + 1. We noticed our cheeky conductor, smartly dressed.. mind you, putting his Nokia to the intercom system. Guffaws followed.
Shit this day is getting weirder and weirder. The next train station, the train overshot and the first carriage was for bicycles, the poor rider was surprised how come only got rough ground 2 feet below him when the door opened. Luckily, our Nokia conductor helped him move his bike to the platform nearby. The cabin was filled with laughter when the conductor got sort of stranded at the platform and couldn't make it back into the train. Lolnubs l2ride.
Reaching back was uneventful, got back at 9 pm. You guys can thank me later. F*** you!
